In the article “Fireplace fires keep Aurora busy” by the Denver post. A fire in a blocked chimney is thought to be the cause of a fire that did $20,000 in damage yesterday to an unoccupied house in Aurora. The house had recently been purchased, but no one had moved in yet. Construction workers had lit a fire in the fireplace, and the blaze spread to the chimney box and attic. On Thursday, firefighters put out a blaze that caused $50,000 in damage. That fire started in the fireplace and then spread through the wall and attic. The man living there and his two cats were not injured. To be safe you should have your chimney cleaned at least once year and these fires could have been avoided.
